welcome

The phone rings; before you know it you have picked it up. You're doing some odd jobs, you're walking through the supermarket or you're having a coffee: all everyday events that you often do without paying too much attention.

When you start noticing this, you will become aware of how often you walk, shop or have your coffee while your mind is in fact somewhere else. Especially in situations with stress, pain or illness, there is a natural tendency of the mind to move away from the 'here and now' but rather act out of habitual reaction patterns, operating on 'automatic pilot'.

Mindfulness training is a way to learn how to be present with whatever is happening in your life in this moment. This can have a very positive impact on your daily life. Being fully aware of the here and now, you practice to disengage your mind from ruminating thoughts and stress. This makes it possible to act with calmness and clarity even in stressful situations, and to make (more) conscious choices.  Research suggests that mindfulness meditation can improve energy and mood, decrease stress, and boost the immune system.
